The horribly written, poorly directed Gangster Squad was originally intended for a fall 2012 theatrical release. However, due to a scene in the movie that featured a rampage in a movie theater, too close to the real-life movie theater massacre in Colorado, the movie studio shuffled the film’s releases so as to edit out the movie theater massacre scene.
A lot more should have been edited as Gangster Squad fails on almost every level.
A chronicle of the LAPD’s fight to keep East Coast Mafia types out of Los Angeles in the 1940s and 50s, the movie features Ryan Gosling, (whom I used to love), in yet another monotone role. And Sean Penn in a wasted role, as well.
Sean Penn plays Brooklyn-born Jewish mob king Mickey Cohen who runs the show in Los Angeles, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, guns, hookers and, he hopes, every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are in his pocket. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop, except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart.
Sadly, you won’t care what happens to whom and will do yourself a big favor by skipping this movie in any way, shape or form – theater, DVD.
The only reason to see this dreck would be if your insomnia kicks in at 3 AM, and there is absolutely nothing else from which to choose on TV. You just may be able to bore yourself to sleep.

The movie A Haunted House, from the Wayans Brothers, beats the very long delayed Scary Movie 5 to theaters in 2013.
In an outrageous send up of the Paranormal Activity movies, The Devil Inside and other “found footage” movies, A Haunted House features young couple Malcolm (Marlon Wayans) and Kisha (Essence Atkins) who have just moved in to their dream house. As they settle in, they quickly find they’re not alone. But it’s not the house that’s haunted, it’s Malcolm’s girlfriend who is possessed by a demon. Malcolm hires everyone from a priest to modern day ghostbusters to rid her of this unwelcome intruder, determined not to let the evil spirit ruin his relationshipâ€šÃ„Â¶ or, more importantly, his sex life.
Thank god this is Rated-R, and not a silly PG-13, like all of the Scary Movies.

From cab driver Tony to schoolmates Jackie, Lynn and Susan and the heartbreaking Neil, as they turn 56, more life-changing decisions and surprising developments are revealed.
The Up series began in 1964 with “Seven Up” and was followed every seven consecutive years, with a new entry. “Seven Plus Seven,” “21 Up,” “28 Up,” “35 Up,” “42 Up,” and “49 Up.”
Shockingly, none of the movies in the Up series have ever been nominated for the Best Documentary Oscar. The movie 28 Up was the highest grossing documentary released in U.S. theaters in 1984.

When he arrives, he is plunged into a violent and chaotic situation, with the military cracking down on a group of protesters led by a pair of activists (Eva Longoria and Forrest Whitaker). The ever-increasing depletion of earth’s natural resource of water serves as the backdrop for this tense environmental thriller.
A minor release, in a handful of theaters, as it debuted on Video On Demand before its theatrical release, (save for a one week Oscar qualifying run in Los Angeles).

Rounding out the cast of friends visiting the inherited house are Tania Raymonde playing the role of Heather’s best friend Nikki, with R&B singer Trey Songz making his film debut as Heather’s boyfriend Ryan and Keram Malicki-Sanchez as Ryan’s friend. Shaun Sipos plays Darryl, a hitchhiker along for the ride who knows more than he lets on.

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was loosely based on a true story.

Clint Eastwood’s sexy, young son, Scott, costars, along with an array of current D-list and F-list talent!

Don’t forget that Oscar winner RenâˆšÂ©e Zellweger and former box office attraction, Matthew McCounaughey, co-starred in a 1994 big screen version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. So anything is possible.
